We launch from the NW corner of Haulover Canal and paddle through the canal into scenic Mosquito Lagoon to watch the launch. This is a short (2 mile round trip) paddle. We cannot guarantee a launch, unfortunately, that's up to NASA, but we can guarantee a beautiful paddle and one of the best seats available without the crowds and traffic jam and a less cost than many parking spaces. Even if the shuttle scrubs you have had a wonderful outing on the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and won't wait hours in traffic, but will enjoy a peaceful paddle back to your car. Who knows. you might even get a visit from from one of the refuge's local residents! Below is a YouTube link to a recent launch...Recent Launch
Beach access road SR 402/406 will be closed for the launch. To arrive at the launch site you must travel north on US #1 17.5 miles from the intersection of US#1 and SR #402/406 (Garden Street) in Titusville to just south of Oak Hill and turn right onto Kennedy Parkway (SR#3); look for the big brown sign to Merritt Island Refuge. Then travel 8.7 miles to the drawbridge at Haulover Canal. Turn right just before the drawbridge and follow the road to the left down the canal to the end.
