Our 8 day package, includes visiting a Chagga village on the slopes of Kilimanjaro, an "authentic" Massai village which is not set up for tourism purposes, and the farming areas of Mtu Wa Mbu. The trip includes some game drives in Tanzania's most stunning National Parks.

We have guided many visitors safely, reliably, and professionally from the Serengeti plains to Kilimanjaro's summit. A trip to Africa is not complete without a visit to view the wildlife in the famous national parks: Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire. On safari, you can see giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, elephants, hippos, and a large variety of birds. Among the more rare treats are rhinos, leopards, cheetah, or a lion kill.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to Springlands Hotel or similar hotel for dinner and overnight (HB).
Day 2
After breakfast we will drive to the Kinukamori Waterfalls in Marangu where you can have a nice walk to see the waterfalls from the bottom and from the top. Marangu is 30km northeast of Moshi town at altitude 1800m, 45 minutes drive form Moshi town. A local guide will show us the village of Marangu and its culture and traditions. Lunch includes the best of local cuisine: Nyama choma (spiced roasted meat) with banana soup and drinks. Try Mbege, the traditional brew of the Chagga ethnic group, a fermented alcoholic beverage made from finger millet and bananas. You will also see coffee plantations and the irrigation system set up by the villagers for their crops. Attractions include waterfalls, beautiful views, coffee trees (this is the area where the first coffee tree in Tanzania was planted by German Missionaries), caves used during Maasai / Chagga wars, traditional and modern Chagga art, culture, and homes, see an iron smith at his ancient craft. Overnight at Springlands Hotel - full board.
Day 3
Drive from the hotel for Maasai Boma cultural tour. Visiting a Maasai village in the Machame/Sanya Juu Area, you will have the change to enter a typical Maasai house and learn about the Maasai's everyday life. After this, drive to Arusha national park for a day trip. Dinner and overnight at Momella wildlife lodge.
Day 4
Drive to Manyara for a Cultural Walking Safari Tour of Mto wa Mbu village. With your village guide you will take a leisurely stroll around the farming areas. Visit a kindergarten, milling machine, church, local homes, and farmlands. Drive to Highview Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5
After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a half day game drive inside the crater. This is undoubtedly the best place to see black rhino in Tanzania as well as the prides of lion that includes the magnificent black mined males. There are lots of colorful flamingoes and the variety of water birds. Other game that you may see includes leopard, cheetah, hyena, other members of the antelope family, and small mammals. In the late afternoon drive back to Highview Hotel for dinner and overnight
Day 6
After breakfast you will have a half a day hike on a buffalo trail to the Southern highlands forest of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with an armed ranger. You will see the water falls and the elephant cave. Then visit the Iraqw Cultural Centre in Karatu. The Iraqw are a tribe that several hundred years ago worked its way South from Ethiopia, through Kenya, to settle in the neighborhood of the Ngorongoro. In order to protect themselves and their cattle from Maasai raids, they build an extensive system of underground settlements which are partially reconstructed and accessible to tourist. Locals show visitors around explaining the traditions and culture of the Iraqw people. Drive to Highview Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 7
Drive from the Highview Hotel to Lake Eyasi. You will see great birdlife along the shore, and location alone makes it a great place to spend a couple of nights. Also the meadows along the lake shores and forest are home to a wide variety of wildlife including leopard, hippos, a variety of monkeys, various birds, greater and lesser flamingoes, storks, and pelicans. Several pleasant, private campsites are located in forest clearings by the lake, and these provide grassy tent spaces and shower facilities made mostly from local materials. Drive back to the Highview Hotel for overnight - full board.
Day 8
Drive to and tour Tarangire National Park. This is a beautiful park filled with baobabs and acacias with a large variety of game such as zebras, elephants, giraffes, and waterbuck. All the animals enjoy the water coming from the Tarangire River. The animals are best viewed during the dry season, including elephant herds, elands, orynx, lesser kudo, rhino, leopards, lions, and cheetah. The birdlife is varied and plentiful. You can also see the very rare Roam Antelope in this park. A a picnic lunch will be provided on the drive to Springlands Hotel in Moshi (HB).

Destination Location
One of nature’s true wonders and a photographer’s paradise, Ngorongoro is the largest intact crater in the world, covering 265 square kilometers (102 sq mi). The 2,000-foot deep crater is home to an abundance of wild game including elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, lions, leopards, hyenas, serval cats, jackals, bushbacks, elands, waterbucks, wildebeest, many antelope, and a large variety of birds. This is a sight that you will always remember! Tarangire National Park covers 6,734 sq km (2,600 sfq mi) and includes two large plains and a seasonal swamp in the south. This is a beautiful park filled with Baobabs and Acacias with a large variety of game such as zebras, elephants, giraffes, and waterbuck. All the animals enjoy the water coming from the Tarangire River. The animals are best viewed during the dry season, including elephant herds, elands, orynx, lesser kudo, rhino, leopards, lions, and cheetah. The birdlife is varied and plentiful. Our English-speaking guides will share the knowledge and stories of the incredible Tanzania Game reserves Safari Tips for guide and cook: $15/day for driver/guide and $10/day for cook (basic camping) for the whole safari group. Gifts: Guides and porters also appreciate your warm clothing, shoes, and packs. You may want to bring some older clothing items just for this purpose. Celebration: You are also welcome to invite your guides back to the Springlands Hotel for drinks and/or dinner (on you) as a thank-you in addition to their tip. Expectations Tips should not be dependent on whether you summit or not, but rather whether they were professional and had your best interests in mind.
Money

Food
Zara offers menus that provide a bounty of fresh food. When appropriate, we also offer some of the local delicacies and flavors. Our meals are well balanced and always include vegetarian options.
Transportation
With the exception of airfare, all Zara trips include all transportation costs and arrangements within the destination country. This does not include transfers to and from the aiport to the hotel or the equipment for all activities listed.

Cancellation Information

Cancellation of a booking or failure to join a tour will result in a retention of funds by ZaraTours Inc. as follows: Upon receipt of written cancellation by any member of the tour indicated on this reservation 30 days or longer prior to departure, 20% of the reservation of the canceling party will be retained by ZaraTours and the balance of the package price refunded. If a cancellation is received at least 14 days and up to 29 days prior to departure, 50% of the package price will be retained by ZaraTours Inc. If a cancellation is received less than 14 days prior to departure, 100% of the total package price will be retained by ZaraTours Inc. and all outstanding payment will become payable immediately. Should the canceling party be able to find a replacement for themselves no less than 14 days prior to departure and the replacement completes this booking form individually, no retention of funds will take place. However, should no replacement be found by 14 days prior to departure, a 100% cancellation penalty will apply to the canceling party. ZaraTours Inc. and its agents reserve the right to terminate, at their discretion and with immediate effect, the participation of any person on the tour.
