Exclusive private access to the narrows section of the Uncompahgre River provides a unique and remote experience for paddlers. We are often the only outfitter on this uncrowded section, providing paddlers with a rare opportunity to get off the beaten path. Our put-in is located just 2 miles below Ridgway State Park, and 10 minutes from the RIGS shop, keeping travel time to a minimum.
The majestic San Juan Mountains and mesas fill the back drop for the entire run as we float through State Wildlife Areas, historic ranch lands and the unique riparian ecology of the Uncompahgre river canyon.

Instructed by a "Senior Guide"
This 2 hour course is designed to provide the novice or experienced anglers with the essential skills to advance their fly fishing technique. This is not a "catching fish" clinic, rather a season designed to give you the necessary skills to become a better angler. This course begins at the Fly Shop with 1/3 Entomology (fly selection), 1/3 Casting Clinic and 1/3 Equipment and terminal tackle review (including knot tying).
Beginner:
We begin with hour of classroom introduction to equipment and casting. The second hour is spent on the Uncompahgre River, practicing what we've learned and allowing our Professional Guides to encourage our newly acquired skills.
Advanced to Expert:
This 2 hour clinic will specifically focus on "On the Water Techniques." You will spend two hours with the instructor learning the necessary techniques associated with catching trout; streamers, line mending, reading the water, advanced nymphing and casting techniques.
Class availability for a walk-in clinics; first come, first served basis. Class size is limited to 5. Age restrictions may apply.
Year-Round, Tailwaters

Southern Colorado's newest tail water fishery below Ridgway Reservoir, offers anglers a chance to discover an unparalleled fishing experience year-round. Extensive rehabilitation has resulted in prime habitat for Rainbow, Brown and Cutthroat trout with catch and release waters revealing deep runs and large pools. Whether you are a veteran or novice, our certified professional guides will provide you with a quality angling experience. This stretch of river lies within Ridgway State Park. A park pass is required on all vehicles. Prices are per person.

Exclusive Private Water - Uncompahgre River
This property has been in the same family since 1879. A one and a quarter mile stretch of ideal cold-water habitat holds large trout in an un-pressured and natural setting. Come explore the runs, riffles, pockets and pools that maintain a healthy population of resident Rainbow, Brown and Cut-throat trout. Escape the crowds and experience a fishery all your own at Centennial Ranch.
Guide favorite, minutes from the RIGS Fly Shop, this private water fishes well through-out the winter and well into spring. In the warmer months, the river supports healthy hatches of caddis, stonefly, blue-wing olives, and the occasional green drake. Prices are per person.

Learn to Kayak Whitewater
Take control of your own inflatable kayak on Colorado's Uncompahgre River, and enjoy a guided 4.5 mile paddle from the Town of Ridgway to Ridgway Reservoir. (Single person and tandem kayaks are available for this adventure.)
Our guides will teach you how to control and maneuver your kayak on flat water, and then take you down the class II-III Uncompahgre River from our private put-in just down from the RIGS shop. There are opportunities to practice kayaking skills on the river, and fantastic scenery for photography.

Enjoy the river the way the locals do, by renting one of our high quality river tubes! River tube rentals are the most economical way to enjoy the river. Daily river tube rentals w/hourly shuttle service, are available on the Upper Uncompahgre River (Town of Ridgway) to Weaver Memorial Park (approximately 2 miles) throughout the summer - it's a fantastic way to spend a hot summer afternoon!
Our high-quality NRS river tubes are not the truck tires of years past, but professional-quality flotation craft with two air chambers, handles and mesh bottoms. All river tube rentals include life jackets for additional safety and hourly river shuttle between put-in and take-out
