We meet you at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Memorial <st1:placetype w:st="on">Beach in Healdsburg at 10:00am for a quick safety talk, and we are on the river by 10:30am.  There are both single and double kayaks available, depending on your comfort and experience on the water.  As we begin paddling down the regal <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Russian <st1:placetype w:st="on">River, your guide will talk about local history and will point out unique flora and fauna.  Look out for egrets, herons, cormorants, and even otters along the river bank.  The river is fairly calm with a few areas of Class I rapids; perfect for the enthusiastic beginner and the experienced paddler alike.  We cover approximately 9 miles on the water.  The scenery changes as we make our way downriver from narrow sections of water between banks full of lush vegetation to a wider river surrounded by vineyards and meadows.  Midday we serve our picnic lunch along one of the many small beaches at the water's edge.  Next to the glistening water you will enjoy our lunch, and afterwards there will be plenty of time to take a dip in the cool water-the perfect way to refresh yourself in the warm afternoon sun.  Around 3:30pm we reach our pull-out location, where we take our kayaks out of the water and drive back to your car at the meeting location.  Finally, we bid you farewell and thank you for touring with us!
