PUBLIC LAND USE FEES APPLY
On departure day, we drive from the RIGS Fly Shop in Ridgway to the canyon rim where the trail head starts at a point 800 feet above the Gunnison River. From there, we hike the 1.1 mile trail to the river with our personal dry bags, rain and yoga gear. All the rafts and camp gear have been horse packed to the put in and one of our staff has already rigged the boats and is awaiting our arrival. After gearing up and reviewing trip considerations, we start floating through the Gunnison Gorge Wilderness to a preplanned lunch spot. Between 3pm and 5pm we like to make camp at which point the guides go to work setting up and making preparations for a gourmet dining experience. Early dinner is an event in itself, as the guides enjoy showcasing their culinary river cooking skills. After dessert, enjoy the temperate high desert evening and take personal time, relax or participate in an evening hike. No camp fires are allowed in Gunnsion Gorge NCA. You may wish to finish the day by joining in the evening yoga session, take in the stars, or retreat to your tent as your cot and sleeping bag awaits, whatever you wish.
Experience waking in the high desert canyon with sun salutations to ring in a new day. Breakfast is usually served at 8:30am and we try to break camp and start down river by 10am. The second day offers new excitement around every corner as we continue our theme of exploring the inter-gorge, meditation and a side hike. After arriving at camp between 3 and 5 pm, prepare for another healthy meal and relax with a book by the rivers edge or prepare your camp site for the evening. After dinner explore a side canyon or meditating to the sound of moving water - whatever you wish. Greet the evening with another moon salutation or choose to retreat to your tent as your cot and sleeping bag await beneath an incredible star filled sky.
Our final day meets with a yoga session, new rapids and canyon walls towering overhead as we weave our way thru whitewater containing some of the oldest rock exposed anywhere on earth! Once successfully out of the rapids, the last four miles of our trip returns to mellow waters and classic desert canyon. Our last riverside meal is prepared in the shade of pastel canyon colors and a yogic meditative farewell. We typically reach our take-out at the Gunnison Forks at 3:00 pm. Our estimated arrival time back in Ridgway is 6:00 pm, at which time we say our goodbyes and thank you's.
You will carry your own personal gear down a mile long trail to the put in. (we will provide you with waterproof backpacks)
*These need to be picked up at our shop the day before trip.

Her daily practice includes finding balance between the inner and outer world, exploring both spaces with awe and wonder and applying the yogic principles to map out the journey. Hansa received her formal hatha yoga training and education while living in Rishikesh, India. Experiencing the power of yogic practice and related philosophies led her to the desire to teach and share yoga in her daily life, supporting others on their journey to find balance. Her extensive travels have also taken her to many spiritual places where yoga and meditation have become a central part of the exploration of different cultures. Currently she is exploring the gorgeous landscape of her new hometown of Ridgway, Colorado and sharing her yogic voice with the surrounding community. Hansa views yoga as an integral and all-encompassing lifestyle, including postures, breath work, mindful diet, contemplation and meditation, and service to others. Spending mindful time in nature deeply nourishes her connection to spirit and her yoga practice. Hansa looks forward to the opportunity to spend time sharing her knowledge with a group of adventurous yogis on the RIGS Yoga River trip.YOGA: On yoga based trips, bring your own personal yoga mat/towel and any additional desired equipment that may aid or protect you in your practice (you will be in wilderness setting on uneven surfaces so remember to protect your feet). All participation in yoga practices is voluntary and done at the participants discretion.
