Love the outdoors and adventure? Ever thought of learning to be a whitewater raft guide?

Blue Sky Outfitters offers the top Guide Training course in Washington: a highly intensive, hands-on series of classes taught by some of the top whitewater river rafting guides in the state. Our goal is to produce a graduating class that will meet our high standards for our own guides as we hire many of our new guides from our guide training class. No previous experience is needed. This course is open to anyone who has good swimming ability. This course will teach you all that you need to know to begin guiding whitewater rafting trips and exceeds Washington State requirements for whitewater guide training.

Costs Tuition is $495.00.00 and includes river gear rental (wetsuit, neoprene booties, lifejacket, helmet), all necessary instructional materials and books. You'll also have access to supplemental training and rescue videos. A minimum of 50% of tuition is due upon signing up to hold your place. All fees are non-refundable.

Employment Our company is GROWING! If you're interested in a job as a whitewater guide, our first round of hiring each year is from the graduates of this class. We'll have part-time, full-time, and weekends-only positions available. In addition to graduating from our guide training course and demonstrating the ability to safely guide on your own, we look for individuals with a strong work ethic, great attitude, good people skills, and the ability to always be on time and ready to go. You must have a current drivers license and reliable vehicle. Having a passion for the river, and getting good marks in the course are a must in order to graduate. If you meet these requirements, we look forward to extending an offer to join our company!

Itinerary

Wenatchee River - Weekend 1 April 20 & 21
Day 1 - Meeting at our Cashmere Riverfront Park for Day 1. We will introduce the instructors for this years class and get ready to go rafting! If you have your own gear you should bring it with you. You will be getting wet, make sure you pay attention to the required and recommended gear lists. Day 2 - Meeting at our Cashmere Warehouse: 5777 Evergreen Drive, Cashmere, WA 98815.
Methow River - Weekend 2 - April 27 & 28
Meeting time is 9:00 AM. We will meet you on the banks of the Methow River at Lightning RV Park. More information will be provided on the first weekend of training.
Methow River - Weekend 3 - May 4 & 5
Meeting time is 9:00 AM.
Wenatchee River- Weekend 4 - May 11 & 12
We will be meeting at our Cashmere warehouse at 9:00 AM.
Wenatchee River - Weekend 5 - May 18 & 19 GRADUATION
We will be meeting at Cashmere Warehouse. You will need to be geared up and ready to go rafting at 9:00AM. On Sunday you will receive a Certificate of Completion. The certificate states that you have completed the required number of hours under Washington State Law to be employed as a Whitewater Guide. Although you can use this certificate to guide for anyone in the state, we hire for our staff directly from this class!

Recommended Gear List

We will provide you with all of the rafting gear you will need for the course. This includes a wetsuit, booties, and PFD.

You will want to have the following items: Wool or Polypropylene Base Layer (Top and Bottom) and Socks, warm hat, waterproof windbreaker and pants, water bottle, We will cover the required gear list for guides on the first day.

You will need to have a way of staying dry in the woods. All of our locations are remote and facilities are rare or don't exist. You will need to have a tent, sleep in your car,camper, trailer, or some other shelter at night.

Do not be late to class, no excuses!

Cancellation Information

If you cancel within 14 days, there is no refund. If you miss your trip or are late for any reason there are no refunds or rescheduling. If you cancel 15 or more days prior to your trip, we will refund you monies paid minus 50% per person in the reservation. We seldom cancel or postpone a trip, but we reserve the right to do so when necessary: due to water conditions, weather, insufficient reservations, or other reasons beyond our control. In such a case, your fees will be refunded or applied to another trip, but not expenses incurred in travel.
