Winding through the majestic San Juan Mountains in the shadows of 14,000 foot Mount Wilson, the San Miguel River is one of Colorado's most spectacular and least known fly fishing destinations. Gin clear water, coupled with prolific insect hatches, provide even beginner anglers a rare opportunity to experience classic Colorado dry fly fishing to eager rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout. As the San Miguel meanders its way through red-rock walls, scenic sandstone canyons and forested banks, expect to be amazed at rivers serene riparian ecology. The San Miguel River, with its near endless public access, beckons anglers to experience one of Colorado's last freestone (undammed) trout streams. Stoneflies, Caddis, Pale Morning Dun, Blue Winged Olives, Midges and Terrestrials are just some of the incredible insect hatches anglers can experience throughout the year. The San Miguels most productive sections are located 30 minutes from Ridgway, 45 minutes from Ouray and just 30 minutes from Telluride. Riverside deli lunch included. Prices per person.

Our Guides will meet you at our Full Service Fly Shop prior to trip departure, excited and ready to go for your guided angling adventure! Guides typically like to take a few moments at this point to make sure you are properly outfitted for your trip, review fly patterns and make recommendations. From here, we'll load up and head out to your trip location for an incredible day of guided fly fishing! *Please make sure you indicate to your guide the skill areas in which you wish to focus on to become a better angler; this will help our guides understand your unique desires and adapt to your requests.
*On trip day, please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure if you need to address any of the following items: Fishing License, Rental Gear or Equipment Considerations.

Listed below are some basic essentials for your guided fishing trip.Please note: you can purchase or rent any of these items at our fly shop upon arrival.
Fly Fishing Essentials:
In the event of a cancellation within 48 hours of your trip departure 100% of the balance will be charged and is considered non-refundable, (90 days out for Gunnison River trips.) * The cancellation of any reservation up to 48 hours will forfeit a standard cancellation penalty of: $15 per-person. (*Cancellation of any Gunnison River trip outside of the 90 days will forfeit a per-person cancellation penalty of: $200 per-person.)
RIGS is not responsible for any cancellations or modifications of tours due to weather condition, road hazards, vehicle breakdowns, or other unforeseen conditions that may hinder the ability for the tour to take place as scheduled. We reserve the right to cancel or modify any trip due to circumstances beyond our control. Clients will have the option to reschedule during the current season based on trip availability. However, trip insurance is always recommended, please contact your local travel agent to acquire trip insurance appropriate for this type of trip.
