The expedition starts out in Puerto Montt, Chile and travels through Chile`s famous Lakes District and over the Andes Mountains to Argentina. Trip members will kayak the Rio Fuy, Rio San Pedro, Rio Manso on a dramatic loop from Chile to Argentina and back into Chile again. The final week will be spent kayaking on the Futaleufu river from Expediciones Chile's elite whitewater kayak camp called Campo Tres Monjas.
The camp, hidden at the confluence of the Rio Azul with the Futaleufu river is a whitewater kayaker`s dream camp that offers the inside track to all the paddling opportunities that make this remote river valley in Southern Chile the most sought after whitewater kayaking destination in the world.
Trip members will camp in comfort at a place that is completely designed for the whitewater kayaker. Campo Tres Monjas has sit-down dining, a wood fired sauna, a masseuse, solar power, hot showers, a white sand beach, and the put-in and take-out just several feet from your tent. All this in a setting more rugged than Glacier National Park, with water and sky color as you would imagine in the Caribbean, all in a land partially forgotten by time.
Expediciones Chile invites you to come explore what they call "the best kept secret of Patagonia," a magical place where hundreds of glacial lakes are connected by thousands of kilometers of pristine rivers, all flowing through the dramatic Andean Mountain range. Be enchanted by its natural rhythms, where condors soar in southern thermals high above turquoise rapids thundering through rarely explored granite canyons. Futaleufu means "great great river" in Chile's native Mapuche language and its power has made it one of the most coveted kayaking destinations in the world.
