The Eagle River (just minutes from Vail and Beaver Creek) is the home of Dowd Chute and offers some of the most intense and exciting, early-season rafting in Colorado. The quarter-mile stretch of river located in Dowd Junction is the most aggressive part of the river. The constriction of the banks creates a chute that you will blast through. The water levels are not dam-controlled and fluctuate with the weather. For this reason, each day we run the stretch we feel offers the best trip, depending on water conditions. This is a physically demanding trip. Good physical condition is recommended and a minimum age of 16 years is required. AVA and Lakota reserve the right to change minimum age requirement based on water flows and individual qualifications.
Note: Our Eagle River trips are run through a partner company, Lakota.
