In the winter months we offer bald eagle tours on the Lower Skagit. During this time the Skagit River is host to over 500 migrating eagles from Canada and Alaska that stop to feast on our abundant salmon runs. This section of the Skagit River is flat water and you'll stay warm while sipping hot chocolate as you get a close-up look a these majestic birds. This is a special favorite of photography lovers as the calm water allows you to photograph from the boats. Minimum Age: 3 <br>2.5 Hours from Seattle 2.5 Hours from Vancouver, BC
Itinerary
Day 1
We meet at Howard Miller Steelhead Park in Rockport. We’ll hand out life jackets, go over what you’ll need to know, and set out for the day - make sure you have plenty of warm clothes a camera and binoculars! You’ll begin the trip floating down the river, taking in the amazing scenery. We’ll watch for eagles as we enjoy hot chocolate and learn all about these amazing birds from your guide. The eagles become more numerous as we continue down the river and float into the Preserve. Once in the preserve, you might see several birds all in one tree! When our trip ends, we’ll finish with our winter chili feed beside a roaring campfire - a perfect way to finish out a winter afternoon.
