Six miles to paradise. Paddle from Crooked River State Park through beautiful and lively salt marshes to the Plum Orchard Mansion on Cumberland Island. Then walk across a true forest wonderland to miles of empty and undisturbed beaches. Enjoy a lunch and relax before heading back.

Cars are parked at the end of the run and tubers are shuttled upriver where they will begin a leisurely float down the serene water of the Shenandoah. The river meanders lazily as you drop over shallow ledges along the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains on this mellow and beautiful stretch of river.

Explore the narrow cuts through the marsh along the boundaries of Ft. Clinch State Park. Surround yourself in the spartina and explore the marsh ecosystem up close. A great bird watching location, with Manatees and dolphins also common. Finish up on the beaches overlooking Cumberland Sound.
