Fly through the trees of a scenic alpine rainforest! Your experienced guides will lead you from tree to tree, with snowcapped mountains surrounding you. On one platform, you will be greeted with hot spruce tea and a local snack. Traverse an aerial suspension bridge along your journey above the headwaters to salmon spawning streams. On the final zip, you will land in a new, uniquely designed treehouse! All of your senses will be stimulated on this one of a kind tour.
There are 7 ziplines, 10 platforms, and an aerial suspension bridge set in the scenic Tongass National Forest with alpine views surrounding you. On the short walk back to the lodge, your guides will point out some interesting sights in the rainforest. The ski lodge is community-owned and runs on hydro-electric power, harnessed from the streams below the ziplines. Here you can sample some locally brewed Alaskan beers, and reflect on your experience as you watch a slideshow of photographs from your tour!
This adventure is a genuine Eco-Tour: we do not use ATVs or high speed boats, and we have built the course in the old growth forest over flowing streams where there is a natural clearing of trees to minimize the impact. Also, we are one of the few Green tourism operators in Alaska. Our business runs on hydro-electric power.
You will also have an opportunity to learn about the fascinating eco-systems of Southeast Alaska through photographs and narrative. This tour is a perfect choice for a rainy day because we provide raingear, and you will have some shelter from the rainforest canopy.
This tour is locally owned and operated and is designed for people ages 10 and above. You should be comfortable with heights, a short, easy walk on a maintained trail, and ascending/descending some stairs.
Participants must be 10 years or above, between 70 to 250 pounds, and comfortable with heights. This tour is not recommended for pregnant women or persons prone to seizures or those with neck, back or shoulder problems. Closed toe shoes, pants, and layered clothing recommended. Tours depart from the Mount Roberts Tram building in downtown Juneau, within short walking distance of the cruise ship docks.
