The Swiftwater Rescue Technician Unit 1 (SRT1) course is approximately 24 to 30 total hours with 8 hours of classroom and 16 to 22 hours in the field. It is suggested that the class be held over 3 days, but it can be adjusted to fit shift and other schedules.

This course is designed for those who haven't ever paddled before but want to get into the exciting sport of whitewater kayaking. Topics covered include: wet exit, paddle strokes (sweep, forward, correction strokes), hip snap, braces, and T- rescue.

Expand your horizons and learn another way to enjoy our snow-covered state with RA Guides' talented and experienced staff. The first evening’s two hour clinic is at the Alpine Sports shop in Boulder.

This course is designed both for those who have never rolled but want to learn, and those that have been kayaking for years but want to improve their roll technique. Student to instructor ratios are kept to 4:1, so you can be sure to get individual attention.
