Stunning landforms of Wave Rock, Mulka's Cave and fine examples of aboriginal art and culture will make this Western Australian excursion a memorable one.
Get a sense of the Australian outdoors as you cross Darling Range and pass through York. A charming town with an interesting history, you can stroll around and explore its Victorian architecture.
Wave Rock, naturally sculpted over thousands of years, is a 15-metre high 110-metre long granite rock formation and will astound you. A friendly aboriginal guide will lead you along this wave shaped formation explaining the rock art of the aborigines and its fascinating mineral colours. Listen to 'dreamtime' stories of the aborigines and visit sacred sites of this ancient people. 'Gnamma' holes or water reservoirs will also add to the richness of this aboriginal experience. Also visit a yawning hippopotamus shaped rock formation, unsurprisingly called Hippo's Yawn and Mulka's Cave, a camel hump shaped natural rock.
If you're visiting anytime from September-November, a carpet of wildflowers will spread out before you. As the sun sets, savour the richness of aboriginal paintings and rock art as you return to the bright lights of Perth.
