For those who want to do away with conventional sightseeing modes of transport, this tour is the perfect answer. Saddle up a horse and set out to explore the beautiful, historical city of Cusco and its surroundings which are teeming with archaeological sites and ruins of the mighty Incas.
Accompanied by an experienced horseman, set off at a comfortable pace through the charming streets and villages around Cusco. Explore the Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Qenko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay. Sacsayhuaman means ‘satisfied falcon’ and this former Inca site is filled the zigzag fortifications. Ride to the Inca ruins of Qenko, a limestone rock with caves, tunnels and carvings of a puma, condor and llama. This site was once a ceremonial centre for the Incas. Keep your camera handy as Puca Pucara offers a panoramic view of the Cusco Valley.

Your
horse riding adventure will begin with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco in a private air-conditioned minibus. You will be taken to
Sacsayhuaman, barely twenty minutes away in the northern part of the city, where you will begin your ride. A private bilingual guide will accompany you on this tour.
Arrive at Sacsayhuaman, where you will be greeted by your muleteer. Choose the horse that best suits your needs. Your experienced guide will brief you about the route before you set off. Your horseback ride takes approximately 2 ½ hours through lush farm land and Andean-style villages and past interesting Inca remains. From certain vantage points you will also have a view of the citadel of Cusco and the Temple of the Moon hill.
Return to Sacsayhuaman.
Board your minibus and depart for Cusco.
Enroute, there will be a brief stop to visit the Sacsayhuaman fortress and the Inca ruins of Q´enko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay (entrance and guide fees are payable direct.) At Tambo Machay, examine the fine workmanship that went into a beautiful ceremonial stone bath. The ruins of Qenko were a ceremonial centre for the Incas.
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel in Cusco.
