Itinerary
Itinerary
The
cruise to Bear Mountain State Park departs from Pier 83, West 42nd Street and 12th Avenue, on the Hudson River - Midtown. Please make your own arrangements to reach this place.
Board your cruise boat which is also equipped with a live English commentary. Spend a day around pristine nature, as you cruise 45 miles north of New York, up the shimmering waters of the Hudson River to the serene Bear Mountain State Park. Admire the picturesque Palisades (107–168 metres), which are cliffs along the western banks on the Hudson.
En route you will see several historically significant landmarks amidst the thick forests along the river. The General Grant National Memorial, also popularly called Grant’s Tomb, is the stately marble mausoleum of the 18th American President, Gen. Ulysses S. Grant and his wife, Julia Dent. It is the largest mausoleum in the United States. You can also see the Cloisters, a branch of the ‘Metropolitan Museum of Art’, surrounded by the beautiful Fort Tryon Park. The Cloisters collection includes a small chapel and artefacts from five medieval French cloisters.
After an enlightening and refreshing cruise, you will arrive at the Bear Mountain State Park in the Hudson Valley.
There will be a stop in a scenic area for lunch (box lunches available for purchase) and you will be free to explore on your own.
Surrounded by the rugged mountains, which resemble the shape of a bear (hence called Bear Mountains), the park is like a picturesque canvas. Explore the historic Bear Mountain Inn, shaded picnic groves, the shimmering Hessian Lake, numerous hiking trails and the Merry-Go-Round with hand-painted scenes of the park.
