Full-day of instruction on the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River with all equipment provided.  On a one day clinic half of the day will be spent with talking about safety, equipment and basic skills.  The second half of the day will be spent paddling and implementing those newly learned skills.  On a two day clinic more time is available for river running and more advanced practice.  A sandwich lunch on the river is included with this trip.  The Chattooga River is a natural flow river, starting and ending locations are subject to change with fluctuating water levels.  Minimum age is 12.  Boat, sprayskirt, PFD, helmet, paddle, wetsuit if needed and paddle jacket are included in addition to transportation to and from the river.  Clinic meets in Long Creek, SC.

Activity Itinerary

Please check-in at our Chattooga Activity Center at least 30 minutes prior to you departure time, you will be required to read and sign a waiver.  We are located one and one half miles North of US Hwy 76 on Academy Road just outside of Long Creek, SC.  Changing rooms and ample parking are available.  Your towel, change of clothes and items you want to keep dry and safe should be left in your car, we will provide a place to keep your car keys while on the river.  Skill level of students will determine the location on the river.  Beginner levels will start with a flat water session and move to more difficult portions of the river.  On a one day clinic we will cover the basics including gear, reading water, safety and paddling strokes with some river time. On a two day clinic we will have more river time to practice skills and introduce you to more advanced techniques.  Lunch is included. Transportation from our rafting center to and from the river is included in your clinic.  When we reach the take-out where we will walk up the hill and board a bus back our Chattooga Activity Center where your car, changing rooms, showers, gift shop and a snack will await you.


Gear List

In warm weather; shorts or a bathing suit, T-shirt, tennis shoes or sandals with an ankle strap, allergy medications, sunscreen and glasses strap if your wear them.  A towel and a change of dry clothes for after the trip can be left in your car, we will give you a place to store your car keys off the river.  In cooler weather add "warm when wet clothing"; wool sweaters, wool socks, synthetic fleece jackets, fleece or wool hat, wetsuit booties, wetsuits, etc.  In cool weather cotton jeans, T-shirts, and sweatshirts are NOT recommended.  Better to be prepared for the worst than underdressed. Nylon shell paddle jackets are available free of charge.  Wetsuits are free of charge if needed.  Wetsuit booties are available for rent.  On a typical kayak clinic you will be much wetter than when rafting, plan accordingly.
