This is an absolutely lovely, 90-minute walk that shows the best of what Baja has to offer. We start off in the rolling hills of the desert landscape, taking in terrific views of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains to the east, the distinct formation of Punta Lobos to the south, and the dramatic sweep of the beach meeting the ocean to the west. In addition to the wide range of cactus and desert plants, we often see jackrabbits, chipmunks, roadrunners, quails, owls, hawks, hummingbirds, orioles, gnatcatchers, flycatchers and doves on this walk - and virtually no humans! We then wind down to the beautiful, pristine beach, which is virtually empty on most days. In January, February and March there are often whales swimming, breaching and spy-hopping just a few yards off the shore. On the final leg of the walk we skirt along the freshwater lagoon which features a fantastic array of bird life including pelicans, herons, egrets, gulls, frigatebirds, ibis, ducks, cormorants, sandpipers, stilts and many, many more.
