Expediciones Chile offers world class
kayak instruction in a world class setting!

Whitewater kayak lessons and instruction based out of their native wood lodge in the remote world famous Futaleufu river valley in Patagonia, Chile. Their Patagonia South Kayak School was founded by Olympic paddler and internationally acclaimed kayak instructor, Chris Spelius. Whether you want to learn to roll a kayak, or sharpen your paddling skills you will receive world-class instruction from their experienced team of instructors in a setting that is beyond your imagination.

This is a multi-sport version of Expediciones Chile's New Kayaker Week. The trip is for beginner kayakers who want to add a multi-sport dimension to their kayak school vacation. No previous kayak experience needed except a desire to learn a new sport.

Students will start on the turquoise flat-water of the Espolon river and get introduced to the basic kayaking strokes, boat control, wet exits, and the Eskimo roll, before going on to moving water. The course will give students a solid foundation that will allow them to rapidly make progress in the sport of whitewater kayaking. Participants will learn the basics of kayak eddy turns, peel-outs, ferries, and the fundamentals of edge control.

During the week there will be two days off from instruction that will allow students the opportunity to take advantage of the numerous multi-sport activities offered in this spectacular Patagonia wilderness.

Expediciones Chile invites you to come explore what they call "the best kept secret of Patagonia," a magical place where hundreds of glacial lakes are connected by thousands of kilometers of pristine rivers, all flowing through the dramatic Andean Mountain range. Be enchanted by its natural rhythms, where condors soar in southern thermals high above turquoise rapids thundering through rarely explored granite canyons. Futaleufu means "great great river" in Chile's native Mapuche language and its power has made it one of the most coveted whitewater kayaking destinations in the world.
