Just one month out of every summer, Expediciones Chile offers riders the chance to join a seven day equestrian journey across the Andes.
This trail was once the only link between Chaiten and Futaleufu; used by locals and police officials up until 1975, when the Carreterra Austral finally opened. On this trip riders will camp out in the remote Patagonia wilderness and experience sights and terrain rarely seen or traversed by humans. This vacation is a very unique experience Expediciones Chile wants to share with those who love long horseback trips into remote wilderness with a unique cultural experience.
This riding vacation is meant for experienced horseback riders. To consider these trips one should be a strong intermediate rider who rides regularly at home. Riders should be prepared to face the elements on this trip. While the weather is usually good in the late Patagonia summer significant storms are possible off of the Southern Pacific Ocean. On average will ride six hours a day over incredibly varied terrain.

Futaleufu means "great great river" in Chile's native Mapuche language and its reputation has made it one of the most coveted multi-sport destinations in the world.
