Experience the west with this saddle and paddle combination. Spend the morning on a 2 hour trail ride in Glacier National Park with Swan Mountain Outfitters at their Apgar Corral, then join us in the afternoon for a 3 hour whitewater adventure on our Class II and III rapids that are down right fun and splashy as you descend the Middle Fork of the Flathead River through the John Stevens Canyon. You can easily grab a bite to eat between trips at our Bonecrusher Bistro, fresh and yummie. Minimum age 7 and maximum weight 225 lbs.

Itinerary

Overview

In the morning you'll be horseback riding with Swan Mountain Outfitters, the only horse company that is authorized to offer trail rides inside <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Glacier</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">National Park</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>. Please arrive at the Apgar Corral 45 minutes prior to departure time. You'll ride to <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">McDonald</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Falls</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>, which is an easy and scenic ride that lasts for 2 hours and goes through a beautiful cedar forest along lower McDonald Creek. Wildlife such as deer, moose and bear are often seen on this trail. The ride finishes at 10:30 or 12:45, which gives you time to make your way back to Glacier Guides Inc/Montana Raft Company to meet us for our 1/2-day raft trip departing at 12:15 or 2:15. Please arrive at least 50 minutes prior to raft departure time to allow for lunch. You can grab a bite to eat between trips at the Bonecrusher Bistro, fresh and yummie, located right at our office complex. (lunch is not included on this trip.)<o:p> </o:p> In the afternoon we will be rafting the Middle Fork of the Flathead River, which is bordered on the right (northeast) by <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Glacier</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">National Park</st1:PlaceType> and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Flathead</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">National Forest</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> on the left (southwest). All ½ day trips put in at the Moccasin Creek river access and finish at the West Glacier river access. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> The Middle Fork of the <st1:place w:st="on">Flathead River</st1:place> has rapids rated class II and III making it a fun and splashy adventure. A half day’s float is 9 miles of spectacular scenery and whitewater through the John’s <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Stevens</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Canyon</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>. There is a photographer who will take your picture while you travel through the rapids. These will be available for purchase in our gift and gear store. <o:p></o:p>

They know that you signed up through us so please go directly to their Apgar Corral. They ask that you arrive 45 minutes prior to departure time. The ride finishes at 10:30 or 12:45, which gives you time to make your way back to Glacier Guides Inc/Montana Raft Company to meet us for our 1/2-day raft trip departing at 12:15 or 2:15. <o:p></o:p> In the afternoon you'll join us to go rafting on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. Our office is located 1.5 miles west of West Glacier on Highway 2. As you are leaving the Apgar Corral drive back through West Glacier and get to Highway 2. Take a right heading west for 1.5 miles on Highway 2. Look for our sign and blue raft on the right side of the road, and take a right by our sign. You can grab a bite to eat between trips at the Bonecrusher Bistro, fresh and yummie, located right at our office complex. (lunch is not included on this trip.) Please arrive 50 minutes prior to the raft departure time to allow time for lunch and checking in. The level of the river (how much water), determines the speed of river. Typically there is more water in the spring and less water by the end of summer since we are free flowing river (not dammed). Dress according to the weather, and bring a rain jacket just in case. When rafting all equipment (i.e. raft, paddle, and lifejacket) is provided. Lifejackets must be worn at all times. Wet suits, splash jackets, splash pants and booties are also provided at no extra cost and may be necessary in late May through late June. July through August, you’ll most likely wear swimsuits or shorts and t-shirts while rafting. <o:p></o:p>
