Starting from Expediciones Chile's Lodge in the alpine village of Futaleufu you will horseback ride overnight to small neighboring communities in Patagonia, Chile. Horses will carry your food, gear, and bags. Rides combine camping with small local inns.
This mini excursion is ideal for those who don`t have time for a weeklong horseback riding vacation.
Expediciones Chile offers a four day horseback riding trip through the Espolon Valley and along the spectacular Lago Espolon, which is encircled by glacier crowned peaks. Riders will stay in the tiny settlement of Espolon with no roads. Access is only by lake crossing or horseback. An experience riders will remember and treasure. A road will be arriving here in 2009 so experience it now. This ride combines small local inns, ranches and cabins.
These trail rides are intended for intermediate riders who are comfortable spending up to six hours a day in the saddle. The terrain is mixed and varied, sometimes providing trotting and galloping opportunities. At other times the terrain is steep and demanding requiring confident horsemanship and handling. Many riders come back from these trips amazed at the agility and dexterity of the Chilean Corralero horse.
Expediciones Chile invites you to come explore what they call "the best kept secret of Patagonia," a magical place where hundreds of glacial lakes are connected by thousands of kilometers of pristine rivers, all flowing through the dramatic Andean Mountain range. Be enchanted by its natural rhythms, where condors soar in southern thermals high above turquoise rapids thundering through rarely explored granite canyons. Futaleufu means "great great river" in Chile's native Mapuche language and its reputation has made it one of the most coveted multi-sport destinations in the world.
