Our most popular trip! This trip combines the serene beauty of the 8 mile scenic float with the excitement of paddling through rapids in the Grand Canyon of the Snake River. The 8-Mile scenic float begins at Pritchard Creek where you will float past Bald Eagle and Osprey nesting grounds as your guide tells you stories of the area and points out the many geological features. This section of the river is home to a variety of waterfowl and native animals such as deer, elk, otters, and moose.
Early morning is the watering time for most animals along the river and affords the best opportunity for wildlife viewing. By mid-morning it is break time at West Table on the banks of the Snake and it is time to gear up for the most asked for activity in Jackson Hole: Whitewater Rafting in the Grand Canyon of the Snake River.
There is no need for superlatives, the names of the rapids say it all - Big Kahuna, Lunch Counter, Three Oar Deal, Ropes, and Champagne. After your adventure is over, we take you to a spot along the river for a deli lunch before we bring you back to town.
There is no bus travel between where the scenic trip ends and the whitewater trip begins. It is a continuous float. Be sure to make your reservations in advance because our most popular trip of the day fills up quickly. This trip is about 5 ? to 6 hours from the time you leave our office until you get back to town.

Gear List

During the 8 mile scenic section wear clothes that will keep your warm and comfortable. During the scenic section the only thing that may get wet are your feet getting in and out of the raft or maybe small wave rolling over the tube. For this portion of the trip, feel free to bring a camera or binoculars, just make sure you have a good strap so it does not fall in the water.

Between the end of the scenic trip and the beginning of the whitewater trip, we will get out of the raft for a short break. At this time, you will be able to use the restroom and take off any clothes that you do not want to wear during the whitewater trip and leave them on the bus. You will also want to leave your camera and binoculars on the bus.

It is best to wear as little cotton as possible while you are on the whitewater section because once cottons gets wets, it just sticks to your body and makes you cold. Swimsuit is ideal, but T-shirts and shorts work too. Fleece and quick-dry workout shirts are great to wear if you would like to be warmer.

You need shoes that attach to your feet and you do not mind getting wet. No flip flops please.

We do supply splash jackets and splash pants for all trips. We also rent wetsuits for $5 and neoprene booties for $4, with the package being $8. Wearing a wetsuit is a great way to stay warm for the trip.

You do not want to bring anything on the whitewater section that you do not mind getting wet. Waterproof cameras are great and are available at our store. If you have your own camera the bus driver can take a picture of you before you get on the raft and then keep it in the bus for you while you are on the river.

Feel free to bring a change of clothes or towels with you and leave them on the bus. The same bus that drops you off on the river will meet you during the break between the scenic and whitewater and also pick you up at the end of your trip.
