Our series of two introductory lessons is the most effective way to learn cross-country skiing. We cover the basics of the classic diagonal stride, turning, and negotiating hills, then refine your skiing and add intermediate skills. Each week, as new skills are added, feedback from your instructor strengthens what you have learned.
Through this series of lessons, combined with the benefit of unlimited practice time for three full weeks, you will emerge a more confident and capable skier. If you want a smooth graceful stride, efficient arm and leg action, proper pole use, and the ability to handle hills in control, this series is for you.
Price includes a trail pass valid for three weeks so you can practice the skills you've learned at no charge. If you opt to rent skis, the rentals are also available for three weeks of on-site use (simply select the "Ski Rental, Classical Series" add-on during registration).
This course meets for two sessions at the same time and day of the week (for example, two consecutive Mondays at 6:30pm). The date and time listed below is the starting time for the first class.
Itinerary
Class 1: Introduction to Classical Skiing (2 Hours)

We’ll begin with an introduction to equipment, clothing choices, and stretching. Then we’ll head out onto the snow to learn the basics of the classical skiing motion, the “Diagonal Stride,” on our flat teaching terrain. To finish out the class, we’ll spend time on a small hill, learning to ski up and down while maintaining control.

Class 2: Refining and Improving Your Skiing (2 Hours)
During the second session, your instructor will build upon the skills taught in the first class to refine your technique and advance your skiing skills. You will work on skills on both flat terrain and hills. To finish off the lesson, you’ll take a tour of the area, emphasizing the use of a variety of techniques to cover a variety of terrain.
