The Silver River is a beautiful, crystal clear river for its entire length and a prime example of pristine Florida. It has a history that has left it famous, yet unscathed... twenty-four movies have been filmed there. The best known are the Tarzan movies of the 1930s and 1940s, and some of the original James Bond movies starring Sean Connery. Along the run you can still see wild Rhesus monkeys left from the 'Tarzan' days as well as a ship that was sunk for one of the Bond movies. This is a beautiful and wild river that originates from clear and cool springs that are now surrounded by a theme park.  On this exciting trip we will paddle up the Silver River, enjoy a snack from our kayaks at the spring itself, then allow the gentle current to bring us back to the launch site.  <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

<UL> <LI>Meet at Ray Wayside park near Silver Springs on SR 40; gear up, waivers, confirm payment <LI>Pre trip meeting, safety chat, brief paddling instruction, <LI>Launch and paddle upstream towards Silver Springs <LI>Half way stop to eat snack, rest <LI>Arrive Springs, chill a minute discuss springs and head back <LI>Head back to the launch <LI>Back at the launch, turn in gear and farewell to guides</LI></UL> We like to eat at the Blackwater Inn in Astor, right on the banks of the St. John either before or after a trip, whichever the schedule allows.
